Disorientations

2009-2010

A curious visual archive culled from circuitous walks and observational experimentation, these photographs juxtapose surface tension and depth, the urban and the suburban, spaciousness and impenetrability, vivid color and the monochromatic, direction and indirection, linearity and curvature, and formal and informal compositional structure. Viewed together, the photographs foil disparate fragments of disorientation, verisimilitude, vertigo and liminality. Most importantly, the images reside at a critical point of intersection in an ongoing photographic narration: they at once nod to the medium's visual past and embrace elements of more recent technological innovation.
